[Ken 05/26/2017] Itchy feet. That is a literal description of how I felt waiting for our next SOWER assignment to come around. We had been hanging out at our Base Camp in Livingston, TX, for about ninety days. But it was the last ten days (or so) that passed the slowest. I knew we were about to be on-the-road again. That is a great feeling. I relish the spirited anticipation of a forthcoming trip.
| We left our Texas' camp one day early to enjoy a more casual drive through the rolling green hills of northern Louisiana, Arkansas, and into the central Ozark Mountains of Missouri. We took several blue highways to be sure to soak up all of the scenery. We made only one stop (other than to sleep) -- to visit Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. The last time we were there the kiddos were all "knee high!" BioN, this park celebrates The Golden Age of Bathing! | |
| | Our ultimate destination was NTM (New Tribes Missions) Training Center near Camdenton, Missouri. The focus of NTM is reaching unreached parts of the world. When we arrived we realized it was still Spring in this part of the country -- there are lots of flowers and some of the trees are still budding. It is refreshing to see Spring again. |
We pulled into the NTM Training Center on Friday morning and were quickly escorted to a site within view of the closest finger of the intricately expansive Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake is not far from the population center of the United States (2010 census) and is self-proclaimed to be the most accessible "premier" lake resort in the [central] USA. The Lake of the Ozarks is sizable, for sure, with more shoreline than the state of California. We won't get to kayak it all before we leave, but we will do what we can!
